In times of trial, we must to adapt our practices, habits, and modes of communicating. Fortunately, modern technology has enabled us to do so with only limited interruption. In the spirit of technological adaptation, the Writing Program and Philosophy Department of Boston University cordially invite abstract submissions on the topic of “Future, Futurism and Technology” for our annual Philosophy and Technology symposium. In light of the current COVID-19 crisis, the planning committee for the symposium has decided to move to an online forum for this year’s meeting. As such, we will be accepting project proposals for online presentations and public multimedia essays in lieu of an in-person meeting, and is rebranding itself The Online Journal for Technology and Ethics.
Call for Abstracts:
The Online Journal for Technology and Ethics is seeking medium length (400-600) word abstracts on the topic of “Future, Futurism and Technology—Ethics of the Unknown” for our upcoming first publication. Abstracts can address any topic within the field of the philosophy of technology, but special preference will be given to project proposals that address ethical questions regarding emerging technologies. Topics might include:

Submission
Abstracts will be peer reviewed and final projects should be submitted as either public multimedia essays of around 2,000 words or 7-15 minute video presentations. Notification of acceptance of abstracts will be sent on 4/18 with final drafts due 4/29. The journal will be published in late May.
